‘Young Sheldon’ Georgie and Mandy Spinoff: Premiere Date, How to Watch, Cast, and More
The Big Bang Theory spinoff Young Sheldon signed off earlier this year after seven seasons on the air. But even though Sheldon Cooper has packed his bags for Caltech, CBS isn’t saying goodbye to the Cooper family for good.
Just a few months after announcing in November 2023 that Young Sheldon would end with its seventh season, CBS confirmed that it was working on a spinoff series focused on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie and his wife Mandy. In even better news for fans, the network isn’t wasting any time in bringing the show to TV. Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage will make its debut on CBS this fall.
‘Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage’ premieres in October 2024
Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage will premiere Thursday, Oct. 17 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS, just ahead of the season 4 premiere of Ghosts.
Can’t catch the new sitcom when it first airs on broadcast? CBS originals are typically available to stream live and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers and on-demand the next day for Paramount+ Essential subscribers.
Emily Osment and Montana Jordan star in ‘Young Sheldon’ spinoff
Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, who played Georgie and Mandy on Young Sheldon, will star in the new show. It will follow the couple, who welcomed a baby in Young Sheldon Season 6, as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage.
CBS hasn’t released a trailer for the new show. However, a brief teaser offers a taste of what’s to come.
“We’re grateful that we get the opportunity to continue these characters and continue this story,” Osment says in the clip (via YouTube).
Fans of The Big Bang Theory know Sheldon’s brother has two ex-wives. The new show’s title hints that Georgie and Mandy split up at least once, then get back together. Osment has said she hopes her character eventually ends up back together with Georgie.
“I’m hoping that I’m the ex-wife and the new wife,” she told TVLine. “People get divorced and remarried. Why can’t she be both?”
What other ‘Young Sheldon’ stars be on the new show?
In addition to Osment and Jordan, several other familiar faces from Young Sheldon will also make an appearance in Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage. Annie Potts, who played Georgie and Sheldon’s grandma Meemaw, Zoe Perry, who plays Georgie and Sheldon’s mom Mary Cooper, and Raegen Revord, who played Georgie’s sister Missy Cooper, will all guest star in season 1, Variety reports. Rachel Bay Jones and Will Sasso will play Mandy’s parents, Audrey McCallister and Jim McCallister. Both had recurring roles on Young Sheldon.
Iain Armitage, who played Young Sheldon’s title character, has also expressed a willingness to guest on Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, but there’s no word yet on whether he will return. However, he was on set to watch a taping of the show’s first episode in July, he shared on Instagram.
“What an exciting honor to attend the first taping of Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage!! It’s always fun to be on the Warner Brothers lot- I grew up there!-and then to get the chance to see so many familiar faces that I love!” he wrote.
Other cast members include Jessie Perez, who will play an employee at Jim McCallister’s tire shop, where Georgie works. Dougie Baldwin will play Mandy’s oddball younger brother Connor, according to Deadline.
