Frank Catania Claims Teresa Giudice Was Asked to Exit ‘RHONJ’
The future of The Real Housewives of New Jersey remains in limbo. Season 14 ended with what Andy Cohen described as a season final. Fans feel certain that the series, as they know it, is over. Dolores Catania’s ex-husband, Frank Catania, claims those rumors are credible. He recently suggested that Teresa Giudice has been asked to step down from the show after she refused to film with her castmates.
Frank Catania says Teresa Giudice has been asked to leave ‘RHONJ’
Frank Catania appeared on The Lisa Alastuey Podcast earlier this month and shared some insider information. According to Catania, The Real Housewives of New Jersey fans won’t see Teresa Giudice again, at least not on the series. Catania claims the only remaining original RHONJ cast member has been asked to exit the show voluntarily.
If that’s the case, Giudice didn’t get the memo until recently. As recently as July, Giudice told the world that she had no plans to leave the series. During an appearance on Live with Kelly and Mark, Giudice said that she would stay on to see the series through unless Bravo fired her.
She seemed confident at the time that Bravo would retain her for the series, but that may have changed. Giudice seemed much less optimistic about her staying power when The Daily Mail caught up with her in August. When asked about the series, she said she would just wait to see what Bravo had planned for her. Fans quickly noted that her body language seemed a bit tense and awkward.
Catania might have heard the rumors, but he doesn’t necessarily agree with the decision if they turn out to be true. Catania said Giudice is the world’s most “recognizable” housewife and claims it would be a shame for her to leave RHONJ. He did seem to place much of the blame squarely on Giudice’s new husband, Luis Ruelas.
When did she join the cast?
If Teresa Giudice does leave the series, it would be the end of an era. The mother of four is the show’s only remaining original cast member. She first appeared in the show’s pilot episode in 2009. The original cast included Giudice, Dina Cantin, Caroline Manzo, Danielle Staub, and Jacqueline Laurita. Staub departed the series after season 2. Cantin left after season 2 as well; she returned for an additional season in season 6.
Manzo and Laurita left the series after season 5. Laurita returned in season 7 before leaving for good. The newest cast members, Rachel Fuda and Danielle Cabral joined the cast for season 13. It is unclear who, if anyone, from the current cast, will return for season 15. A complete “refresh” isn’t out of the question.
