‘Dancing with the Stars’ Season 33: What We Know So Far About the Cast, Stars and Premiere Date
Dancing with the Stars Season, 33 is readying to be the most exciting and fun season of all! After crowning Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovsky as Season 32’s mirrorball winners, plans went into full force to deliver a new season filled with surprises. Here’s what we know thus far about Season 33.
When is ‘Dancing with the Stars’ returning for Season 33?
On May 10, Dancing with the Stars announced that the series would return to ABC and Disney+ for Season 33. The series streams on Hulu the next day.
The series posted a joint Instagram message with ABC on May 10, 2024. It read, “The Mirrorball will be shining bright when #DWTS returns with a new season LIVE on ABC and Disney+! Next day on Hulu.”
However, an official release date for the new season has yet to be determined. If the series follows the pattern of previous seasons, Season 33 will likely be released on Tuesdays in mid-September.
The show’s host will remain Alfonso Ribeiro, who won a mirrorball during Season 19 with pro-Witney Carson. He previously co-hosted alongside Tyra Banks before taking the helm in Season 32. Julianne Hough is also returning as co-host per Deadline.
What celebrities are competing during Season 33 of ‘DWTS?’
No celebrities have officially been revealed as contestants for the cast of Dancing with the Stars Season 33. However, if Season 32 is any indication, fans should soon learn the identity of at least one competitor.
In July 2023, Ariana Maddix of Vanderpump Rules took to social media alongside judge Derek Hough to announce she would compete in the ballroom. Therefore, it should only be a short time before the tea is spilled on which celebrities will face their fears to learn challenging ballroom techniques.
The new celebrities will likely contain a mix of old and new favorites. Dancing with the Stars typically features reality stars, athletes, vintage celebrities, social media stars, and trending teens.
Cast members will likely contain stars of The Bachelor, Bachelorette, or even The Golden Bachelor. In its history, The Bachelor franchise has produced three mirrorball winners.
As far back as Season 1 of Dancing with the Stars, which premiered in 2005, Trista Sutter represented Bachelor Nation. When Season 32 premiered, Charity Lawson repped the reality dating competition.
Overall, there have been three winners from The Bachelor franchise. In 2020, Kaitlyn Bristowe won alongside Artem Chigvintsev. Hannah Brown, with Alan Bersten, took home the mirror ball trophy in 2019. Melissa Rycroft, paired for a second time with Tony Dovolani, won the all-star season.
Are all the judges and pros returning to ‘Dancing with the Stars?’
Bruno Tonioli confirmed his return to Dancing with the Stars Season 33. He spilled the details to The Sun. “I’m still doing the American [dancing show], and I’m very passionate about it.”
Derek Hough and Carrie Ann Inaba confirmed their return to the series on Instagram. Inaba is an original judge from Season 1, while Hough is the series’ most awarded mirrorball trophy winner, with six overall wins.
Typically, the pros learn from production if they are returning to compete a month before the season’s commencement. Therefore, it is still up in the air who will be returning.
Season 32 of Dancing with the Stars featured pro dancers Alan Bersten, Artem Chigvintsev, Brandon Armstrong, Britt Stewart, Daniella Karagach, Pasha Pashkov, Emma Slater, Gleb Savchenko, Jenna Johnson, Koko Iwasaki, Peta Murgatroyd, Rylee Arnold, Sasha Farber, and Val Chmerkovskiy. Most, if not all, of these dancers will likely return for Season 33.
Karagach, Slater, Murgatroyd, Bersten, Chigvinstev, Johnson, and Chmerkovskiy have all won mirrorballs. However, the playing field is wide open each season for a new pro to win with their chosen celebrity.
Dancing with the Stars is currently on hiatus. The show returns to ABC’s lineup this fall.
