Unfortunately, the couple couldn’t make their relationship last. Three months after their wedding, Gerry and Theresa called it quits. Now, Theresa hasn’t filed her response to Gerry’s divorce petition.

Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist seemed the perfect match on The Golden Bachelor. Sadly, the couple called it quits three months after a quick engagement and a marriage on live TV. Sources claimed that Gerry and Theresa faced several complications in their marriage, the most prominent of which was where they would live as a couple. Gerry lived in Indiana, while Theresa lived in New Jersey.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, and so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” Gerry said with Theresa by his side on Good Morning America.
Gerry filed for divorce in Indiana on April 12, 2024. Oddly enough, as of June 2024, Theresa hasn’t filed her response to the petition to divorce. According to The Sun, Theresa signed a joint stipulation that states the divorce can be handled in Indiana, but that’s the only document she signed.
The publication added that while some celebrity couples file for divorce twice, Theresa did not submit a separation petition for dissolution in New Jersey. Additionally, she did not have an attorney listed on the divorce papers, meaning she might be currently representing herself.
She allegedly had ‘reservations’ about ‘The Golden Bachelor’ star before the wedding
The Golden Bachelor wedding ceremony was beautiful, and Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist looked thrilled to celebrate their big day on live TV. However, a source alleged that Theresa had “reservations” before tying the knot with Gerry due to his checkered past and lying about an alleged past relationship.
“In a way Theresa felt like she had to go through with the wedding because the whole world was watching, and she was hopeful, she thought she could get past that initial [past relationship] lie,” an insider told Life & Style.
One of Gerry’s exes spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her experience dating Gerry. She discussed living with Gerry in his home in Indiana. On the show, Gerry claimed that he never seriously dated after the death of his wife.
“Theresa feels like she was duped and so do the other women that fell in love with Gerry,” the source added.

The Golden Bachelor stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist had issues that the world didn’t see in their short marriage. According to podcast host Kate Casey, an insider whose son’s girlfriend is friends with Gerry’s youngest granddaughter spoke about why Gerry and Theresa were a bad match.
“He is saying he wanted the divorce because she was too ‘uppity’ for him and used the example of she wouldn’t pump her own gas and hated where he lived,” the podcaster said on Reality Life With Kate Casey.
The host poked holes in the idea that Theresa was “too uppity” for Gerry. “Everyone from the state of New Jersey knows you legally can’t pump your own gas,” she explained. “You can’t; someone pumps your own gas for you.”
