Prince William’s Close to ‘Washing His Hands’ of Prince Harry ‘for Good’ Because He Won’t Stop the Diana Talk
Prince William is “fed up” with Prince Harry. The Prince of Wales, 42, is reportedly “spitting mad” at his younger brother, the Duke of Sussex. Why? Because he won’t stop discussing Princess Diana in the press. Ahead, what Harry recently said about their late mother that’s got William upset.
William is upset Harry keeps talking about Diana
According to New Idea magazine, William’s not happy after Harry discussed Diana in ITV’s Tabloids on Trial documentary, which aired in the U.K. last month.
“William is spitting mad that Harry would reference [Princess Diana] again,” a source said (via Sky News Australia). Apparently, it’s gotten to the point where “he’s so fed up with [Harry and Meghan Markle] cashing in on Diana’s death.”
The insider went on to suggest there are monetary motivations behind the Duke and Duchess of Sussex discussing Diana publicly, something William despises.
“Harry just won’t move on,” they said. “And it appears that since marrying Meghan, the obsession with his mother has only intensified. William’s getting to the point where he’s washing his hands of Harry for good.”
William and Harry have been estranged for years. However, if both attend the funeral of their uncle Robert Fellowes, they might find themselves in the same room.
Princess Diana ‘wasn’t paranoid’ about phone hacking, according to Harry
So, what exactly did Harry say that’s got William upset? The 39-year-old suggested their late mother had been subjected to phone hacking by British tabloids.
“There is evidence to suggest that she was being hacked in the mid-90s, probably one of the first people to be hacked,” Harry said in Tabloids on Trial (via Deadline). “And yet still today, the press, the tabloid press very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid.”
“But she wasn’t paranoid,” he added. “She was absolutely right of what was happening to her. And she’s not around today to find out the truth.”
In the same interview, he also admitted legal battles with Mirror Group, News Group Newspapers, and Associated Newspapers have worsened his relationship with William and their father, King Charles III.
Harry has felt his mother’s presence ‘very much’ in recent years
Diana has, as Harry told Today’s Hoda Kotb in 2022, been with him every step of the way since leaving royal life in 2020.
“It’s almost as though she’s done her bit with my brother and now she’s very much helping me,” he said. “[She] got him set up, now she’s helping me set up.”
“For me, it’s constant,” Harry said of feeling her presence. “It has been over the last two years, more so than ever before.”
In Spare, Harry shared some examples of Diana popping up in his post-royal life. He recalled how Archie became fond of a painting with “Diana” in the title when they were staying at Tyler Perry’s house.
He also revealed how a woman with “powers” told him Diana was with him and that she’d gotten a laugh out of Archie trying to fix a broken Queen Elizabeth II Christmas ornament.
