Joan Vassos Returns to Social Media With Her ‘Best Friend’

Joan Vassos has officially wrapped filming for The Golden Bachelorette. The mother of four left Maryland in late June to film her season in California. Filming reportedly wrapped late last week. While we won’t know who Vassos picks as her next great love for several more weeks, promos for the upcoming season hammer home how important family is for the Maryland native.

Joan Vassos’ return to social media has been all about family. Her most recent upload included her best friend, who also happens to be her young grandson.

Vassos appeared on Instagram for the first time since filming reportedly wrapped. Her upload wasn’t a solo venture, though. Vassos appeared in a video with her grandson, who calls her JoJo.

In the video, Vassos and her young grandson discuss her time on The Golden Bachelorette and the series’ goal. They also chatted about what they love. For the youngster, it’s dinosaurs. Vassos is all about her family.

Boomer, Vassos’ grandson, informed the world that he is Vassos’ first grandchild and her best friend. The wholesome video has garnered plenty of attention from fans enjoying the inclusion of Vassos’ family in promos for the upcoming season.

When does ‘The Golden Bachelorette’ premiere?

The Golden Bachelorette is shaping up to be a big hit. Bachelor Nation fell in love with The Golden Bachelor and has high hopes for Vassos’s inaugural season. While Jenn Tran has yet to wrap her season of The Bachelorette, eyes are already set on Vassos. So, when does the series premiere?

What we do know is another quick golden wedding is unlikely. Vassos has made it clear that she isn’t rushing down the aisle. On The Bachelorette Season 21, Jenn Tran has a diverse group of men competing for her love. However, some of their behaviors turned her off. Jenn spoke on The Viall Files podcast about how the men were acting when she wasn’t around.

“I didn’t realize how catty they were, to be honest,” Jenn said. “I had no idea any of those scenes were going on. With the cocktail party, I didn’t know any of them were being so aggressive, and shouting, and all this fighting. I had no idea, which I’m mad about. Like, let me listen in. Let me be a fly on the wall. But yeah, I’m surprised to see how passionate they all were.”

Devin Strader and Sam McKinney had several public spats early in the season. Sam didn’t like Devin pulling Jenn aside during the first group date to have a private moment with her. Jenn didn’t see the many quarrels between Devin and Sam as the weeks progressed.

While speaking on The Viall Files, Jenn Tran discussed Thomas Nguyen’s behavior and how he would pull other men aside when he disagreed with their conduct in The Bachelorette Season 21.

“It’s very interesting,” Jenn said. “He just goes, ‘Hey, let’s talk.’ I’m like, woah. Thank God he wasn’t doing that to me. Like, what are you doing grabbing me for?”

Jenn also commented on how she felt when she would talk to one cast member and another one of her men would enter the room and interrupt.

“I’m just not the type of person that’s gonna sit there and teach somebody how to act in a situation of conflict,” she said. “I think it’s very telling how long the boys are going to keep it going on for. To me, I liked being a fly on the wall watching these conversations happen, watching the uncomfortable happen, and seeing how well they resolve conflict for themselves. I’m not your mom. I’m not here to do that for you.”

She shared her biggest ‘icks’ and turn-ons when dating

The Bachelorette Season 21 lead Jenn Tran has turn-ons and turn-offs, and she shared her “icks” on The Viall Files.

“Surface level, chewing with your mouth open,” she said. “It just turns me off so much. And when you’re talking to me, and you have a mouth full of food, it’s just not it for me.”

Another “ick” for Jenn came from Aaron Erb’s fashion choice. “I’m just gonna say — pearl necklace, very interesting choice,” she said.

As for turn-ons, Jenn admitted that she has a controversial take on body hair.

She later commented on how she and Sam have a strong sexual attraction, making their one-on-one moments fiery.

Fans watched as Jenn started to fall for Sam. Unfortunately, Sam spent a lot of his time in the house arguing with fellow contestant Devin Strader. When Jenn and Sam finally had their first one-on-one date, Sam pushed Jenn into participating in the SkyJump in New Zealand, which she didn’t appreciate.

While speaking to Nick Viall on The Viall Files podcast, Jenn admitted that Sam made her “so uncomfortable” during another moment on the show. Sam stripped and gyrated against Jenn during the group strip tease date in episode 3. While Jenn pretended to love it and smiled during the date, she explained her true feelings on the podcast.

“See, that was another moment in which I was like, why are you smiling? You’re obviously so uncomfortable,” Jenn said. “I think I like to just make things seem like they’re not as bad. I mean, it wasn’t like … I think, in the moment, I was just a little like, OK, this is not the time or the place right now to be doing this.”

Jenn also discussed her and Sam’s SkyJump date. She stated that she “wanted to crawl out” of her “skin” due to how uncomfortable she felt with Sam pushing her.

Sam McKinney and his family slammed Jenn Tran and The Bachelorette Season 21 online. Sam’s family members hated how he was portrayed on the show.

First, the contestant posted a comment to Instagram with an emoji showing smoke and another emoji showing mirrors. Then, his sister, Hannah McKinney, wrote. “Let’s see all the footage @bacheloretteabc … I’m waiting,” with a clock emoji.

His other sister, Olivia McKinney, posted a similar comment: “I’m ready for @bacheloretteabc to show allllll the context they’ve left out.”

Sam’s parents posted longer and angrier posts on social media. His mother wrote that he was being made into a “villain,” and his father wrote that Sam became “a complete wreck” after seeing how ABC portrayed him in the series.

Jenn said on The Viall Files that she doesn’t think the show was unfair to Sam. “I don’t think anybody can edit you in a certain way that you’re not already,” she explained. “No one’s gonna put words in your mouth. Those are your own. And you gotta take responsibility for that.”

‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21 Episode 5 spoilers: Who heads home?

The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 5 is here after an unexpected reveal in episode 4. Jenn Tran is making solid connections with the men cast for her season. However, her ex-boyfriend, Matt Rossi, arrived during the previous episode hoping to join the other men and win Jenn’s heart. Episode 4 didn’t feature a rose ceremony due to Matt’s arrival. Jenn sent Sam Nejad home before the rose ceremony, so episode 5 will likely open with the rose ceremony that didn’t air.

So, what happens during the rose ceremony? Aside from Jenn’s drama with Matt, Reality Steve notes she likely sends Thomas Nguyen home at the start of the episode. The spoiler guru isn’t sure if there are two rose ceremonies in this episode to make up for the lack of one last week. John Mitchell and Dylan Buckor also likely head home before episode 6. Seven men move forward to the following location.

As for Jenn’s dates in episode 5, she takes Jonathon Johnson and Grant Ellis on one-on-ones. Jenn and Jonathon head out on a helicopter ride to a winery while she and Grant go horseback riding. The group date involves the men surrounded by sheep.

Does Jenn Tran allow her ex-boyfriend to join the cast?

Jenn Tran never expected her ex-boyfriend, Matt Rossi, to appear on The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 5. They only dated for a few months before breaking up, and he had ample time to reach out to Jenn after she appeared on The Bachelor and before the start of The Bachelorette. A preview for episode 5 shows Matt trying to convince Jenn to keep him in the house with the other men.

“I hope that you can see how much that you mean to me,” Matt tells Jenn.

Jenn explains the situation to the other men, who are understandably frustrated.

“With her ex walking in, it’s changing people’s hearts and minds,” one of her cast members says in a voiceover.

“We are working out hardest to be here, and for some guy who’s wandering his way back in, I’m livid,” Devin Strader says.

According to episode spoilers, Jenn doesn’t allow Matt to reenter the competition. She likely sends him home at the start of the episode before the first rose ceremony.

One contestant self-eliminates in episode 5

Reality Steve reports fans will see one contestant self-eliminate in The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 5. Austin Ott sends himself packing. A preview for the episode shows him speaking privately to Jenn Tran about his decision.

“What are you saying?” Jenn asks Austin while they’re sitting with each other alone.

“I’m saying I don’t think it’s fair to the other guys,” he tells her.

The next scene in the teaser shows someone leaving in a limo with Jenn crying. This could be Austin, Matt, or any of the other guys she sends home during the rose ceremony.

“As much as I can see a future at the end of this, I also see a future where I end up alone,” her voiceover states.

With his exes coming forward and McKinney’s on-screen antics leaving a sour impression on viewers, public sentiment about the contestant has shifted. McKinney isn’t taking the criticism lying down. He has publicly suggested he has gotten a bad edit, but Jenn Tran doesn’t seem to agree.

He took to social media to suggest that The Bachelorette cut out footage to make McKinney appear shallow. None of McKinney’s siblings were on hand for filming.

While Sam McKinney and his siblings are busy insisting he got a bad edit, Jenn Tran isn’t willing to let him off the hook that easily. During a recent appearance on Love to See It With Emma and Claire, Tran discussed how the show edits people.

Tran said it was time for McKinney to own what he did and said. She said that while editing can put a spin on a contestant, the producers aren’t forcing words into the contestant’s mouth and aren’t creating villains. Over the years, a number of people who’ve appeared on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette have died. The most recent tragedy involved season 21 cast member Hailey Merkt, who died on July 26 of leukemia. She’s one of at least 10 Bachelor Nation alums to pass away after appearing in the franchise.

Merkt, 31, appeared on Nick Viall’s season of The Bachelor, which aired in 2016. She went home in week 2.

“It is with broken hearts we share that our beloved Hailey has passed away after a courageous fight for her life,” read a post on Merkt’s Instagram.

On his The Viall Files podcast, Viall called Merkt’s death “very sad.”

“I didn’t really get to know her very well at all, but I very much vividly remember her, and I remember her to be very sweet and kind,” he said.

Tyler Gwodz

Tyler Gwodz was a contestant on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette. He and Brown went on one solo date, but Gwodz vanished from the show soon after with no explanation. Gwodz later told Refinery29 that he left the show of his own accord.

In January 2020, Gwodz died of a drug overdose in Florida. He was 29.

Eric Hill

Eric Hill appeared on Andi Dorfman’s season of The Bachelorette, which aired in 2014. Dorfman sent the self-described “adventurer” home early in the season.

Not long after Hill finished filming for the show, but before the episodes aired, he died at age 31 in a paragliding accident. Rather than edit Hill out of the season, The Bachelorette addressed his death in the season premiere.

Clint Arlis

Clint Arlis was part of The Bachelorette Season 11, which aired in 2015. Kaitlyn Bristowe sent him home in episode 3. In January 2022, he was found dead in his parents’ home outside of Chicago. The cause was suicide.

Though Bristowe admitted that she and Arliss didn’t part on good terms, she said in a social media video that she was “so sorry” to hear of his death (via People). “It’s such a huge loss, and I’m honestly just beside myself with this news,” she said.

Michael Nance

In 2012, Michael Nance competed for Emily Maynard’s affection on The Bachelorette Season 8. He died in 2017. The cause was multiple drug toxicity, People reported.

During his time on The Bachelorette, Nance spoke about his addiction to prescription painkillers.

“It’s a vicious cycle and it ate away at me for a long time,” he said. “I’m almost two years sober, now, and it’s not that easy — you have to completely change your way of living.”

Cristy Caserta

Cristy Caserta was a cast member on Brad Womack’s season of The Bachelor in 2011. She died suddenly in September 2018 at age 38. The cause was an enlarged heart and an overactive thyroid, Us Weekly reported.

Erin Storm

Erin Storm appeared on The Bachelor Season 12 with Matt Grant. She was eliminated in week 3.

In March 2016, Storm, who was a pilot, died in a small airplane crash in California.

Gia Allemand

Gia Allemand appeared on The Bachelor in 2010, when she was the second-to-last woman eliminated by Jake Pavelka. She also appeared on the spinoff series Bachelor Pad. She later started dating NBA player Ryan Anderson.

Alexa ‘Lex’ McAllister

McAllister died by suicide in February 2016. She was 31.

Sam McKinney made a good first impression with Jenn Tran on The Bachelorette, but that appears to be where the positive feelings end. Sam has argued with other contestants, made Jenn uncomfortable, and has a couple of former romantic partners speaking out against him. While fans of the series seemed to like Sam early on, he is emerging as the villain of The Bachelorette this season.

Sam McKinney goes from fan-favorite to the villain on ‘The Bachelorette’

Sam McKinney established himself as a fan favorite early on in The Bachelorette. His sexual chemistry with Jenn Tran is undeniable. But that is pretty much where his appeal ends. The 27-year-old contractor has emerged as the villain of The Bachelorette in recent days, marking a swift and sudden shift.

Things got tense between Sam and fellow contestant Devin Strader last week. Sam even suggested he and Devin could “take it outside.” He opted to poke fun at Sam Nejad, too. While Sam insists he’s just there to win the competition, he’s taking it to a strange place.

Sam’s oddly aggressive behavior with fellow contestants could be largely overlooked initially, and Jenn did just that. Can everyone overlook his most recent misstep, though?

Jenn later revealed she was terrified and explained that she was upset Sam decided for her without understanding her emotional state. Sam wasn’t the least bit sorry about the misstep, either.

Sam McKinney’s off-screen behavior has helped dub him the show’s villain

Sam hasn’t been dubbed the villain of The Bachelorette just for his on-screen behavior, either. Earlier this month, reports emerged that he ended a casual relationship the day he left for The Bachelorette. According to his former partner, she and Sam met during a night out in Nashville and dated for months before he left for the show. In a TikTok video, his former female companion shared that McKinney blamed his decision to appear on the show on her.

Reality Steve also spoke to Sam’s former fiance. The Bachelorette contestant opened up about being cheated on by his ex on The Bachelorette. While his ex did say she cheated, she insisted there was more to the story. She didn’t wish to be further involved in the situation but did note that she was not surprised that Sam used the situation for a sympathy vote.

While it’s unclear if he’s officially the villain of the season, he is well on his way to becoming just that. It is unclear how long Sam lasts on the series.

Who is Jenn Tran’s ex-boyfriend, Matthew Rossi, and why did they break up?

She has strong feelings for several of her contestants, and they’re putting their all into winning her heart. However, they’re not the only ones hoping to have a relationship with Jenn. Previews allude that Jenn’s ex, Matthew Rossi, arrives on the show unexpectedly.

So, who is Matthew? He’s a digital creator living in Boston who dated Jenn years ago and broke her heart. His Instagram shows that he loves to work out and adores his dog.

Jenn talked about Matthew indirectly in videos she posted to social media. In one TikTok, she referenced him as “Weiner Boy” because of his dachshund and explained why they broke up.

In the TikTok, Jenn says she was “head over heels” in love with “Weiner Boy” and hoped to marry him, but he dumped her three months into their relationship. This devastated Jenn, and in the wake of the breakup, she had a friend ask her if she wanted to head to Miami, Florida. Jenn went on the vacation and loved the warm city. She later applied to 10 physician assistant schools and got into the one in Miami, thus making her choice easy.

“If I never dated Wiener Boy in the first place, if Weiner Boy never broke my heart so badly that I wanted to go to Miami, if I never had gone to Miami, I would’ve never applied to school in Miami,” Jenn said. “And if I never applied to school in Miami, I would have never gotten into PA school, and I wouldn’t be in PA school right now.”

In the TikTok, he says he was a “24-year-old f***boy living in Boston with his three best friends.” As coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions were ending, he was “painfully single” and went on Hinge and met Jenn. Unfortunately, episode 3 didn’t show Sam in the best light, as he got into a verbal altercation with Devin Strader. Another preview from The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 4 shows Sam and Jenn at odds. Here’s what Sam and his family members posted to social media about his alleged bad edit.

Sam McKinney and his brother and sister threw shade at Jenn Tran and ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21

Sam McKinney and his family members aren’t happy with his edit in The Bachelorette Season 21. While he started strong with the First Impression Rose, his image has deteriorated over time. Many fans liked Sam in the first episode, but his altercations with Devin Strader left him in a bad light. Unfortunately, Sam isn’t taking his edit gracefully. He and his family members are posting negative comments about The Bachelorette and Jenn Tran on social media.

Reddit screenshots show how Sam posted a comment to Instagram with an emoji showing smoke and another emoji showing mirrors, seemingly referencing how he’s portrayed on The Bachelorette.

His sister, Hannah McKinney, separately commented, “Let’s see all the footage @bacheloretteabc … I’m waiting,” with a clock emoji.

His other sister, Olivia McKinney, posted, “I’m ready for @bacheloretteabc to show allllll the context they’ve left out,” with an emoji of a pair of eyes.

Sam’s brother, Seth McKinney, wrote, “Crazy how they can cut out so much detail to make a person look shallow while making others look like a king,” seemingly referencing Sam’s beef with Devin.

Olivia added, “And a queen,” to Seth’s comment, throwing shade at Jenn.

His mother and father also complained about their son’s edit

Sam McKinney’s mom and dad also took to social media to defend their son after his alleged bad edit in The Bachelorette Season 21.

Susan McKinney said the show “destroyed” Sam’s “character” and “manipulated the truth through editing.”

“Isn’t it interesting that the first night favorite is now being made into the villain?” Susan wrote, according to a screenshot from Reddit. ” … Sam is a good guy regardless of how he is portrayed, and I will no longer sit idly by and not speak up.” She concluded her statement by calling out The Bachelorette for their dishonest use of free speech, whereas she speaks the “honest” truth.

Sam’s dad, Jeff McKinney, called out The Bachelorette and Jenn Tran for her negative treatment of Sam. Jeff said his son has been “a complete wreck” due to how the show portrayed him. “The spoiler was revealed, and (in my opinion), the network had to paint Sam as this horrendous guy in order for Jenn not to look like a complete idiot,” he wrote. “Now I know why the network offers free counseling for one year after the show.”

Jeff added the hashtag “#StandWithSam” at the end of his post.

Jenn Tran hasn’t responded to Sam’s family’s woes. So far, she seems to have ignored the chaos brewing around the First Impression Rose winner.

However, Sam decides that both of them will jump.

“Without even asking me, he made a decision for the both of us,” Jenn says. “I think he needs to be doing a better job of reading my emotions right now. … I am clearly terrified, and Sam is not reading my emotions at all.”

Sam says he wants Jenn to “be comfortable being uncomfortable,” thus pushing her into the activity.

ABC’s The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 4 is here, and fans can’t wait to see who Jenn Tran connects with next. In this episode, the men head to Auckland, New Zealand, and Jenn has two one-on-one dates with the most polarizing men this season. So, who does Jenn send home during the fourth rose ceremony? Here are the spoilers.

‘The Bachelorette’ Season 21 Episode 4 spoilers: Who heads home?

Jenn Tran and her final 12 men head to Auckland, New Zealand, in The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 4. Jenn takes two of her men, Devin Strader and Sam McKinney, on one-on-one dates. She has a group date for the other 10. According to Reality Steve‘s spoilers, three men likely head home during the rose ceremony, but the rose ceremony doesn’t happen in this episode. Jenn sends Sam Nejad home before the ceremony.

Tension built between First Impression Rose winner Sam McKinney and Devin Strader in previous episodes. While Devin is outspoken and unafraid to stand out with Jenn, Sam thinks Devin has treated the other men disrespectfully. Thomas established a close friendship with Sam and also got into a verbal altercation with Devin. It seems Jenn has had enough of the drama between Thomas and Devin; she will likely send Thomas home in the rose ceremony next week.

A preview of the episode shows additional conflict between Devin and Sam. While sitting on a couch, both men say they don’t respect each other. Later, Devin says he’s acting as his “authentic self.”

“Devin is a clown show,” Thomas says in the preview.

Thomas also gets into it with Sam Nejad, who made a splash in episode 3 after telling Jenn he was falling in love with her. Sam N. tells Thomas that he “belittles” and “disrespects” him, and Thomas tells him to shut up.

The preview also hints that Jenn’s ex arrives for her in New Zealand.

Devin Strader and Sam McKinney get 1-on-1 dates

In The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 4, Jenn Tran chooses to go on one-on-one dates with Devin Strader and Sam McKinney, two men who hate each other in the house.

A preview of the episodes shows Jenn and Devin Strader connecting with native New Zealanders on their one-on-one date. “Traveling to new places and learning about the people that come here before us is something that I want to be able to do with my future partner,” Jenn says in the preview. Devin also admits that he has strong feelings for Jenn.

“I’m falling for you,” he tells her. “I’m not afraid to say it.”

On Sam’s date, he and Jenn go to the famous SkyJump and SkyWalk in Auckland. The couple has the option to walk and observe the views from the SkyWalk or to jump. Jenn wants to walk, as she hates heights, but Sam says they will jump.

“I want her to be comfortable being uncomfortable,” Sam says.

While Jenn and Sam’s date starts rocky, she gives him the rose at dinner. Another clip shows her saying she’s falling in love with Sam.

The group date involves 10 of the men playing rugby

The remaining 10 men attend a rugby date at North Harbour Stadium in The Bachelorette Season 21 Episode 4. The New Zealand national rugby union team, better known as the All Blacks, explains the sport to the men.

“What better way to get to know New Zealand than to get to play their favorite sport?” Jenn Tran says in the preview.

“I’m here to conquer,” Sam Nejad says in the preview posted to Instagram. “I’m here to take Jenn; I’m not scared of any of the guys here. I don’t care about their feelings. Screw the group.”
