‘And Just Like That…’ Season 3 Likely to Include Another Funeral Scene
And Just Like That…, the Sex and the City reboot opened with the devasting death of Carrie Bradshaw’s big love, John James Preston. His funeral was featured in the raw and emotionally charged first season. While season 2 was much more upbeat and hopeful, viewers are in for another emotional moment when season 3 finally premieres. Another funeral appears to be in the cards, although we still don’t know who could have died this time.
An ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3 casting call looks for mourners
Two weeks ago, a Reddit user shared a casting call they came across. The casting call for And Just Like That… sought background actors to serve as mourners. In the short ad, the production team sought actors to play artists, politicians, and theater people.
Clearly, someone will die in season 3 of the iconic reboot. The casting call suggests the person people will be mourning didn’t have any trouble in the romance department. The scene specifically calls for a row of “ex-girlfriends.” The filming dates were listed as June 26 and June 27.
Photos of a potential funeral scene surface as the cast continues filming in New York City
If the casting call wasn’t enough, there is now photographic evidence that points to a potential funeral scene making its way into season 3 of And Just Like That. On June 26, several cast members were spotted in Midtown Manhattan funeral-ready. Nicole Ari Parker, Mario Cantone, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarita Choudhury, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon were all spotted dressed in black.
While we don’t know who passed on in the And Just Like That… universe, they were likely influential. Filming for And Just Like That… season 3 started over a month ago. Still, fans have not seen many photos of the entire cast filming together. The reported funeral scene has drawn in all of the show’s major players and several side characters. Whoever has died in the series garnered enough attention to pull the pals together. Even newcomers like Seema Patel, Lisa Todd Wexley, and Guiseppe were on hand.
Who could have died in season 3 of ‘And Just Like That…’?
Once fans saw the casting call for mourners, they got to work theorizing who could be the next character to die. It feels unlikely that the writing team would kill off another major character, but it’s impossible to ignore the fact that Evan Handler and David Eigenberg, the actors who play Harry Goldenblatt and Steve Brady, have not been seen on set yet. While it’s unlikely that either will meet their demise in season 3, it’s always a possibility.
Fans quickly suggested that Richard Wright, who wooed and ultimately cheated on Samantha Jones in Sex and the City, might be the dearly departed. While the request for a “row of ex-girlfriends” does feel on-brand for Richard, he hasn’t been mentioned in the reboot, and Samantha Jones isn’t included in the series.
A Reddit user suggested the funeral might be for Enid Frick’s gentlemen friend. The theory has merit. While Enid was committed to her man, he was sending inappropriate pictures to Carrie Bradshaw when we last heard about him. It isn’t inconceivable that a row of former loves would show up to pay their respects. Considering how influential Enid is, his death would draw the entire group of friends. Other fans think the writing team may have opted to write off Che Diaz with their death, but that feels too heavy for the upcoming season.
We are still months away from the premiere of And Just Like That… season 3, so fans have plenty of time to guess who the pals gathered to mourn. Max has not announced an official premiere date, but the season will appear on the streaming service provider sometime in 2025.
