Rumors Swirl That Kim Catrall Will Be Returning to ‘And Just Like That…’ With a Caveat
Kim Cattrall’s cameo in And Just Like That… season 2 thrilled the fanbase who missed Samantha Jones’ presence. The cameo was a short moment in the season’s finale. Still, it has led to plenty of speculation about what season 3 might look like. While the cast and crew have been busy filming sans Cattrall, rumors are swirling that she is set to return to the series, but with a caveat.
Kim Cattrall is rumored to be returning to ‘And Just Like That…’ for season 3
Rumors are swirling that Kim Cattrall will reprise her role as Samantha Jones, in a more expansive way, in And Just Like That… season 3. Life & Style reportedly spoke to an insider who alleges Samantha Jones will be back, in a major capacity, when the show’s third season premieres in 2025.
The alleged insider told the publication that while Cattrall is on board to return to the series, she plans to do it her own way. Her way will ensure she isn’t actually in contact with her former co-stars. According to the insider, Cattrall will film her scenes alone in London. She filmed her season 2 cameo without the rest of the cast, as well.
The production company behind the series has yet to comment on the rumors. No official announcement regarding Cattrall’s involvement has been made. She’s said multiple times in the past that she has no desire to reprise the role of Samantha ever again.
There is no solid evidence that the character will return
While rumors are swirling that Cattrall has come to an agreement with the production team, there is no solid evidence that she will be back with her former co-stars. If she does return, having her return from a different location is likely the only way it would work. There is no love lost between Cattrall and her former castmates.
Cattrall has been outspoken about her distaste for Sarah Jessica Parker for years. While Parker has remained mostly quiet about the feud, her friend and fellow star is happy to speak out. Cattrall hasn’t spoken out against Cynthia Nixon. Still, Nixon made it clear that she is happier without Cattrall involved in the project.
In a chat with Vanity Fair in June 2023, Nixon said she loved being on set because everyone wanted to be there. She said, “We all love each other, we love our show, we wanted to do more of it. And we all wanted to be there.” She went on to hint at the drama with Cattrall specifically. She also stated that she enjoyed working on the reboot because the cast is “…not walking around on eggshells with someone who’s unhappy for reasons that are hard to even understand.” While Nixon didn’t call out Cattrall by name, the well-documented issues make it easy to figure out who she’s referring to. Kristin Davis has yet to comment on the feud. She’s never commented on any of Cattrall’s statements against Sex and the City, the production schedule, or Sarah Jessica Parker.
