Is Bennifer back on? Reports of a Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reunion could mean the two are rekindling their romance 17 years after calling it quits. One of the most memorable celebrity couples of the early 2000s, fans of the duo are wondering what’s currently going on between them. While speculation continues, revisit some of Affleck and J. Lo’s most memorable PDA moments from the “Bennifer” era.
1. Ben Affleck made a cameo in Jennifer Lopez’s ‘Jenny From the Block’ music video
J. Lo’s music video for her popular song, “Jenny From the Block,” premiered in 2002. It included a cameo by Affleck. The Way Back actor memorably caressed J. Lo’s bottom while the two sunbathed on a boat.
A nod to all the tabloid attention their relationship received, the music video featured paparazzi photos of J. Lo and Affleck as well as surveillance camera footage. In 2010, J. Lo reflected her and Affleck’s relationship being a tabloid obsession.
“I love Ben, he’s a great guy, but it was a lot for both of us to be under that type of siege for two years straight,” she said on The Graham Norton Show according to Harper’s Bazaar.
“We were on the cover of every magazine, every week, it was just a weird thing,” the mother of two added. “Our relationship, I think, did suffer because of that. That’s not the only reason … but I think it definitely played a part in the dynamic of our relationship.”
2. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were all about PDA at the 2003 Vanity Fair Oscar party
On March 23, 2003, J. Lo and Affleck attended the Oscars together. They walked hand-in-hand down the red carpet while they posed for photos and waved to fans.
After the Academy Awards it was at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party they were relaxed. The two were spotted cozying up together on a couch. Affleck had his arm around his wife-to-be — The Accountant actor proposed to J.Lo in November 2002 with a massive pink diamond ring — and they were leaning in for a kiss.
3. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck packed on the PDA at a basketball game in 2003
In May 2003 Affleck and J. Lo sat courtside at a Los Angeles Lakers basketball game. All eyes were on them as they looked every bit the happily engaged couple. J. Lo whispered in Affleck’s ear, they laughed and cheered, and at one point they locked lips in front of everyone.
At this time in their two-year relationship, J.Lo and Affleck had already starred in Gigli together — the movie wouldn’t hit theaters until August 2003 — and they were beginning to work together on another project, Jersey Girl.
Four months later, in September 2003, the couple announced they were postponing their wedding “due to extensive media attention.” In January 2004 Affleck and J. Lo were no more. They called off their engagement and ended their relationship.
