According to numerous sources, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have hit a rough patch in their marriage that will likely result in divorce. It seems the couple can’t get on the same page about how they hope to live. Lopez loves the spotlight, but Affleck hates the media attention. Additionally, Affleck and Lopez have trouble communicating and no longer live together.
Divorce rumors have swirled around the couple since mid-2024. As of June 2024, they haven’t yet announced divorce proceedings. A source told DailyMail.com that Affleck and Lopez were waiting until their kids finished school for the year so the announcement would be less disruptive to them.
“I think they have wanted to wait until all the kids are out of school and done with school plans and all that before they make their big announcement,” the insider said. “They are putting the kids first.”
Affleck has three children with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner: Violet Anne, 18, Seraphina Rose, 15, and Samuel, 12. Lopez has twins with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony: Max and Emme, 16.
The insider added that while Affleck is a “great father,” he can be “grumpy and a downer,” which might affect his marriage. “He chain smokes and cusses and seems irritated a lot of the time,” they said. “Great director and actor, but not a lot of laughs with him, you know? He is a wonderful father, though.’

Affleck spoke about how he hates getting his photo taken in public with his kids while on Kevin Hart’s series Hart to Heart.
“We get out of the car. We were going to a play, and I was like, ‘F*** it, babe, we’re going to be late, we gotta walk a block and a half.’ She was like, ‘Alright,’ she didn’t say s***,” Affleck recalled. “We get out with her, all the kids, through Times Square, and the s*** was like f***ing bananas.”
“I don’t like a lot of attention,” the actor continued. “This is why people see me, and they’re like, ‘Why is this dude always mad?’ Because someone had their camera sticking in my face, and I’m like, ‘OK, here we go.’ … Because I’m with my kids, and they’re taking my picture,” he added.
Jennifer Garner allegedly doesn’t like her kids in the public eye
Jennifer Garner chooses to live a private life with the three kids she shares with Ben Affleck. A source told Fox News Digital that Garner doesn’t want her kids “in the public eye so much,” which has been hard to stomach due to the current attention on Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
“Jennifer Garner felt blindsided by Ben’s relationship with J.Lo,” the source shared. “She doesn’t like her kids in the public eye so much, and that’s been hard for her.”
Garner once explained how she hates seeing her loved ones in tabloids. “I really work hard not to see either of us in the press,” she told Stellar Magazine, according to Elle. “It doesn’t make me feel good, even if it’s something nice about one of us. I just try to forget that I’m out there in any way, and the same with anyone I love. I don’t need to see anyone in my family made into a meme.”
