Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, and Their Kids Feel ‘Unsafe’ in Their Beverly Hills Mansion, Source Says
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are selling their $68 million Beverly Hills home amid divorce rumors. Before the listing went public, fans speculated that the couple was planning on selling the place. While Lopez and Affleck reportedly find the mansion too large for their needs, a source claimed that the couple and their five kids don’t feel safe in their home.
Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, and their 5 kids allegedly don’t feel safe in their $68 million mansion
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are reportedly headed for divorce in 2024. While the couple first fell in love in the early 2000s, they didn’t tie the knot until rekindling their romance in 2021 and having a wedding in 2022. Unfortunately, two years later, several sources claim the couple is ready to call it quits. They listed their Beverly Hills mansion for sale in July 2024, which seems like the logical first step to divorce.
Lopez and Affleck bought the 38,000-square-foot property with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms in May 2023 for $60,850,000. A source told DailyMail.com that the couple decided to put their house up for sale because it never felt like “home” to them or their five kids (Max and Emme Muniz, 16; Violet Affleck, 18; Fin Affleck, 15; and Samuel Affleck, 12). Additionally, Lopez and Affleck occasionally found it unsafe.
“Jennifer and Ben decided to sell their house because neither one of them, nor their kids, felt like this place was home,” the source alleged. “It was too big, and the openness made them feel unsafe at times, and although they have around-the-clock security, something just didn’t feel right.”
The insider noted that Affleck “hated the house more than” Lopez and that their marriage falling apart sealed the deal of putting it up for sale.
“The amount of money it costs just in utilities for that home was astronomical,” the source continued.
The couple is ‘in a rush to sell’ the property, a source claims
A source told Us Weekly in July 2024 that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were “in a rush to sell” their Beverly Hills mansion.
“They decided to list the house very recently, within the last week,” the source exclusively shared. “They thought they could sell it off-market but made a game-time decision in order to put more eyes on the property; they are in a rush to sell it. Ben especially wants to be done with the house. He was never happy there.”
Affleck doesn’t live in the mansion currently. He moved into a $100,000 monthly rental in Brentwood, closer to his ex, Jennifer Garner.
“Ben continues to live at the Brentwood rental,” a source told People in June 2024. “He’s been there for about two months now. He seems OK. He’s been at his office every day and seems focused on work. He’s also spending time with his kids.”
Jennifer Lopez allegedly plans on moving to New York after she and Ben Affleck divorce
Where will Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck go once they sell their $68 million mansion? During the summer of 2024, Lopez spent a lot of time in New York while Affleck stayed in Los Angeles. A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez plans on moving to New York with her twins.
“Even before things went totally south with Ben, she was pushing for a full-time move to New York, and now she’s decided to go ahead with that after the split,” the insider claimed.
“There’s nothing to stop her from taking the kids and making a fresh start back in New York,” the source continued. “They’ve got plenty of schools back east, and she’s got a great social circle there.”
